Fife AC junior runners put in podium performances at the Scottish Junior Road Race Championships at Heriot Watt University, Riccarton.

In the cold, wet conditions Kirkcaldy’s Adam Scott claimed the individual silver medal in the under 13 boys race timed at 9 minutes 46 seconds for the 2,800m course. Winner Ryan Gray (Inverclyde) won in 9.29 making it a clean sweep of titles having earlier this year won the National Cross-Country title plus the Inter-District title. Crail athlete George Rees followed home in 9th (10.16) and with Stuart Aitken 37th (11.06) Fife took the team silver medals totalling 48 points behind winners Giffnock North (25) with RH Cambuslang in third (52).

Louise Mccullagh finished 20th in the under 13 girl’s 2,800m with Abbie Steggles 25th (11.59).

Tristan Rees contested the under 15 boy’s 4,500m race finishing 20th in 16 minutes 47 seconds followed by Ryan Brocklebank 29th (17.44). Lundin Links athlete Ailsa Cruickshanks came home 19th in the under 15 girl’s race clocking 18 minutes 39 seconds with Katy Aitken 26th (19.11).

The under 17 men’s race was held over a 5,600m course where Logan Rees, Crail, excelled to place 8th clocking 19 minutes 34 seconds with Bruce Millar 10th (19.49) and Ronan McInstray 31st (23.02). The team placed 6th with 49 points only four points off the bronze medal position.
