Meeting: 21st September 2013
The course for the races took in landrover tracks and steep muddy single track paths. There was a bit of everything to test young hill runners from the five home nations. The weather was reasonably warm but misty with little wind.
Two Fife AC athletes were selected to run for Scotland - Ailsa Cruickshanks (U16 girls) and Logan Rees (U16 boys). This was Ailsa's first appearance in a Scotland vest; Logan has worn one many times!
Ailsa finished 16th in the U16 girls in 21.50 (the winner's time was 19.23) and third placed Scotland runner. Race distance was 3.8km with 225m ascent.
Logan finished 4th in the U16 boys race, and 1st Scotland runner, just missing out on a podium position by 13 seconds. His time was 22.27 and the winner's 21.57. Race distance was 4.9km with 275m climb.
Another Fife AC athlete also ran in the U16 girls race, Annabel Simpson. Races are open to non-JHI participants but they do not count towards the team prizes. Annabel had an extremely impressive race finishing in 6th, 20.47 and ahead of the first placed Scotland girl.
In addition there was an U14 open race which featured Louise McCullagh of Fife AC who finished in third position in a time of 25.15 (3.8km and 225m).
